Trinity College (also known as the College of Dublin) is one of the seven ancient universities of Britain and Ireland as well as Ireland’s oldest university which was established in 1592. It is located in central Dublin and attracts a great number of visitors and students from around the world. Trinity College contains a great number of 18-19th century as well as modern buildings and is constantly growing. The list of notable graduates of the college includes Jonathan Swift, Oscar Wilde, Samuel Becket and Ernest Walton. The Old Library and the Book of Kells Exhibition is a must see while visiting the site. The Book of Kells is a 9th century gospel manuscript which is believed to be written close to the year 800 and is well known throughout the world. It has been on display since the 19th century. Visitors are welcome to have a look at the decorated pages of the volumes and read interesting facts about the texts. Apart from the Book of Kells, you can visit the Old Library which is filled with 200,000 of the Library’s oldest books dating back to the 17-18th centuries.
