The Egyptian Pyramids were built some 4000 years ago and still retain much of their majesty and mystery. The Great Pyramids of Giza are highly popular among tourists as they were listed as one of the Seven Ancient Wonders of the World. The Giza pyramid complex includes the Pyramid of Khufu (also known as the Pyramid of Cheops) which is the largest and the oldest of the three pyramids located in Giza. Apart from the Pyramid of Khufu, Giza complex includes a smaller Pyramid of Kephren, the Pyramid of Menkaure, the Great Sphinx and smaller Queen’s pyramids. A lot of theories have been proposed about the construction techniques. It is believed that pyramids served as burial monuments but scientists still disagree upon the theological principles of the ancient Egyptians. Scientists also speculate about an astrological meaning to the position of the pyramids.
