There are many places to visit in the USA and the Golden Gate Bridge is one of them. This suspension bridge is extended over the Golden Gate, which marks the entry point of the San Francisco Bay into the Pacific Ocean. The Golden Gate Bridge connects the city of San Francisco with Martin County on the northern point. Considered to be a celebrated international symbol, San Francisco Golden Gate Bridge has been given a place among the Seven Wonders of the Modern World by the American Society of Civil Engineers. Due to its attractive structure, the Frommer’s travel guide recognizes this bridge to be one of the most beautiful and most photographed bridges across the globe.
This orange vermillion suspension bridge has been well designed and colored to match the atmosphere of the natural surroundings. Due to its select color scheme, the view of this bridge becomes more enticing in fog. The construction work on this bridge started on January 5, 1933 and more than $35 million was spent on this project. The bridge was thrown open to public with a grand opening celebration which took place on May 27, 1937 and continued for one week.
The Golden Gate Bridge is 8,981 feet (2,737 m) in length, at 746 feet (227m) above water. At this height, the bridge was considered to be the tallest suspension tower in the world untilthe bridges in Japan and Denmark were constructed.
