Chinese Garden of Friendship Tourist Attraction

Chinese Garden of Friendship

The Chinese Garden of Friendship, which is an interesting attraction of the city, is situated near Chinatown of Sydney. It was opened in 1988, the year of celebration of the 200th anniversary of Australia. The fact is that the Chinese city Guangzhou (in Guangdong province, China) is the twinned city of Sydney. The Chinese Garden of Friendship is an island of Chinese history and culture in Sydney, giving the opportunity to get an idea about the traditions and peculiarities of Chinese architecture and landscape design. The style of the Garden is defined by the canons, which created the elite gardens of wealthy Chinese in the era of the Ming dynasty. Such gardens were a real place of rest and relaxation. The main difference of Chinese parks and gardens consist in no flower beds and shaved lawns. The Chinese landscape design is characterized by the creation of "plots" of nature: waterfalls, lakes, wooded hills. The main thing is to involve all the key elements - water, plants, rocks. And all this is in special architectural surroundings: there are figures of stone or wood on the edges of the winding paths of the Garden. The tranquility and naturalness inspire people strolling in the Garden. This is a wonderful peaceful place where you can feel the harmony of the surrounding world. Everything is based on the balance of philosophy of Yin and Yang: serenity balances the activity. The climate and weather conditions of Sydney and Guangzhou are very similar. Many exotic plants grow in the Chinese Garden of Friendship, including red mulberry, which is the "plant" symbol" of the province Guangzhou. There are several pavilions in the Park, including the pavilion of the Lotus fragrance famous for its aphrodisiacal properties, water pavilion, tea pavilion, where the tasting of many varieties of Chinese tea takes place, Jade pavilion and others. The Dragon wall is the place, which attracts crowds of tourists in the Chinese Garden.
